 | Welcome | |
 |
The site is aimed at microcontroller enthusiasts, beginners
and people who need to control something but do not want the hassle of
learning a new system. A model, programmable train controller could be built for
example, a robot system, a car or computer modification system or anything that
requires controlling. Interaction is the key,
all the systems presented use either BASIC or Forth, its fast and fun (yes fun).
No specialist tools, or more importantly knowledge is required. Its simply a
matter of typing and watch what happens.

| PIC32 with BASIC |
It has been a while for this update but there has been a lot of activity in the background -- Coming soon a PIC32 bit microcontroller board with built in fully functional BASIC and an SD Card interface that acts as a disk drive. The main interface is USB from which it derives its power but this can be disconnected and then run as a stand alone device. The board is similar in size and price to the very popular BV511...........

| IASI-2 |
A major update to the IASI protocol has been released. As a result of feedback from users this new protocol update addresses all of the areas that caused problems particularly in the areas of setting up and multiple devices. The emphasis is now more on automated control rather than manual input from the user via a terminal. All devices start up in the same way regardless of the configuration and all devices must be addresses. |

| IASI & I2C From a Browser |
Control hardware using a browser on your PC using free software. IASI and I2C (BV4221) interfaces can now be controlled from a PC using a Browser. If your not keen on using a browser than how about an application like Word or Excel. It is possible to control an IASI device or an I2C device directly from a Microsoft application. A data logger actually built into Excel?

| Work with I2C form Your PC |
A new product called the BV4221 is a USB to I2C converter. It requires no special software to enable I2c devices to be controlled. All that is needed is some terminal software such as HyperTerminal or BV Terminal. The device can also 'spy' on the I2C bus so that hard to define problems can be debugged. You can watch what is going on on the I2C bus. |

| A New way to Use BV Forth? -- ForthLib |

There is a NEW way to use Forth? // Check out
ForthLib // What is the most annoying about getting any new code? You
start to compile and there are missing functions (words in Forth's case), you
have no idea what they do and it takes a long time to find out so that you can
get the new stuff working. Something else? Well, often you have to load a
'library' of words just for one or two that you need, working out the
dependencies is an impossible task, so you just load the whole lot. And the last
gripe for today? To offer functionality for a piece of hardware, the SD Card for
example 90% of the words are there to support the main, needed words such as
open, write etc. the other words need to be hidden in the background and you
certainly don't want them to clash with your code.

| 32bit ARM Microcontroller |
Brand new 32bit microcontroller that is incredibly easy to use, simply plug
in to the USB, install the drivers and that's it, ready to program. It has a
built in operating system so is fully interactive. This is the easiest way to
migrate form 8bit to 32bit without the cost of a development system or the
massive learning curve of the GNU Free software route. The board comes with
CD-ROM and 100 page user guide. |
